Our Story
GAP Trail Foods, LLC is an exciting new urban agricultural project created by two community-focused, entrepreneurial organizations in Western Maryland. First is Performance Property Management, one of the largest companies in Frostburg that supports residential and commercial property rentals as well as construction, home improvement, storage, and cleaning services. Second is Mighty Yough Foods, headquartered in nearby McHenry, which grows and sells fresh mushrooms and mushroom products at farmers markets, and to restaurants, grocers, and boutique shops.
Inspired by the nearby Greater Allegheny Passage Trail and other trails in western Maryland that traverse urban and natural landscapes, we produce nutritious and delicious foods for the communities of this great region. Our indoor mushroom farm and processing center is in a mixed-use residential and commercial building just steps away from Frostburg State University (FSU) and exactly a mile from the GAP Trail’s Frostburg Trailhead. We are excited to engage with FSU and other neighbors throughout the region to provide fresh, healthy, and innovative foods; offer good jobs; and forge other connections.
Our Process
We begin with fresh mushrooms, carefully grown for quality and flavor. These mushrooms are sold directly for home cooking, and serve as raw ingredients for our other products.
Fresh Production: We cultivate and supply fresh, premium mushrooms for culinary use.
Tinctures: We produce concentrated mushroom extracts from fresh material, intended for daily wellness routines.

Jerky Production: We hand-process raw mushrooms, marinate them in savory sauces, and dehydrate them to achieve a specific texture and “chew”.

Our vision is to create a high-value, low-impact business that promotes healthy food options and increases job opportunities, economic development, and community engagement in Frostburg, Allegheny county, and western Maryland.
Our mission is to produce, process, and sell the highest quality fresh mushrooms and mushroom-related products at reasonable prices by engaging local suppliers and service providers as well as serving local restaurants, private chefs, farmers markets, schools, religious institutions, community organizations, and other local businesses.
